Since 1974, Judas Priest has become one of the influential and successful heavy metal bands of all time. Formed in 1968 in Birmingham, the band has gone on to sell over 35 million albums worldwide. Platinum albums like Unleashed in the East, British Steel (Breaking the Law, Living After Midnight), Screaming for Vengeance (You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’), and Turbo have earned them the designation “metal gods” from their fans. The Priest is the only metal band beside Black Sabbath to perform at Live Aid. Even the group’s admirers have gained notoriety, as subjects of the documentary Heavy Metal Parking Lot.

The band took a break after 1990’s Painkiller, but reunited in 2003 to coincide with the release of the Metalogy box set. The Priest’s triumphant return included co-headlining the 2004 Ozzfest and a new studio album, Angel of Retribution, released to critical and commercial success. In the last several years Judas Priest has become known to a new generation of fans thanks to their music being included on the soundtracks of several popular video games, including Prey, Guitar Hero, Roadkill and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. This year, the band is a special guest of the Download Festival, and embarks on a worldwide tour to promote its latest release, Nostradamus. A concept record about the legendary 16th century prophet, the disc balances a thought-provoking storyline with metallic thunder. No other rock band could have pulled off such a grand statement, and Judas Priest has once again raised the bar with Nostradamus.
